Nigerian Idol Season 9, themed “Let Your Dreams Take Flight,” premiered on Sunday, April 21, at 7 PM WAT on all Africa Magic Channels—Showcase (DStv ch. 151, GOtv ch. 12) and Family (DStv ch. 154, GOtv ch. 2). How Does It Work?

Nigerian Idol kicks off with open auditions, inviting aspiring singers from across Nigeria to perform before a panel of esteemed judges. Successful contestants proceed to the theatre round, where they participate in group and solo performances, with the judges selecting the best to advance.

The competition intensifies during the semi-finals and live shows, where contestants perform weekly, and viewers vote to keep their favorites in the competition. This journey culminates in the grand finale, where the top two finalists perform in a live show, and the winner is decided by audience votes.

This season, the judging panel includes songstress Omawunmi, soulful R&B crooner Ric Hassani, and legendary lyricist 9ice. Their insights, creativity, and experience will be crucial in helping contestants reach new heights and fulfill their musical dreams.
