Chima Wins Nigeria Idol 2024 Season 9 Show

After months of intense competition against some of Nigeria’s best performers and vocalists on the ninth season of Nigerian Idol, Chima Udoye has been crowned the winner of this year‘s edition at the finale held on Sunday, July 14, 2024. The fast-rising star emerged victorious after securing more votes than the remaining top three contestants – Chioma and Lammy.

The live finale episode kicked off with the top 10 contestants performing John Legend’s “Glory.” This was followed by performances from previous winners: Progress, the Season 7 winner, performed alongside the Bigi Idol winner, and Victory Gbakara, the Season 8 winner, showcased an original song he wrote before his season’s finale. The night featured electrifying performances from guest artists like Chike and Simi, and the top 3 finalists. Eventually, Chima was crowned the winner.

Chima is known for his onstage charisma and vocal dexterity, consistently leaving the judges – 9ice, Omawumi, and Ric Hassani – speechless. During the finale, Omawumi remarked that Chima was competing with himself, highlighting his extraordinary talent and potential beyond the competition. Specializing in jazz and soul music, Chima had expressed at the beginning of the season his desire to showcase his vocal prowess and inspire others using the Nigerian Idol platform. Twelve weeks later, he has achieved that goal and more.

Following a night of stunning live performances from artists like Simi, Chike, and Victory Gbakara, Chima was presented with a grand prize that includes N30 million, a brand new SUV, a DStv Explora with a one-year premium subscription, a music deal, and a music video.
